What are Retail Treasury Bonds?

  1. What are Retail Treasury Bonds?
  • Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs) are medium to long-term debt securities issued by the Republic of the Philippines through the Bureau of Treasury. The RTBs are part of the government’s savings mobilization program designed to make government securities available to retail investors. 
  1. What are government securities? 
  • Government Securities (GS) are unconditional obligations of the sovereign states, i.e., the Philippines. It is backed by the full taxing power of sovereignty. Therefore, government securities are practically free from default. 
  1. Why invest in RTBs? 
  • RTBs are affordable and convenient. It is a low-risk investment with a higher yield than time deposits and gives quarterly interest payments.
